Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy

Is Hypnosis Reputable?

Hypnotherapy - the clinical, therapeutic use of hypnosis - has been recognized and accepted as an approved medical modality by the American Medical Association since 1958.  It has also been approved by the American Dental Association, the American Psychiatric Association and the British Medical association! The Mayo Clinic was founded by the Mayo brothers using only hypnosis as anesthesia for several thousand deep abdominal surgeries! Hypnosis has been used for over 150 years in medical practice, but it is much older than that.

Where Did Hypnosis Come From?

Hypnosis has been used for thousands of years for a variety of reasons. Up to 4000 years ago it was discovered that people would gather in "sleep temples" in ancient India, Sumaria, and Egypt to be healed of their afflictions by a High Priest. In ancient Greece when someone went into a normal hypnotic state, the Greeks found they weren't roused easily like from a normal sleep. They believed that the Greek Sleep God "Hypnos" had control over them. It wasn't until they were able to "break Hypnos' spell" that they would wake. That's actually where the word Hypnosis came from. James Braid named the state Hypnosis. Hypnosis is greek for "condition of Sleep" He also called it Nervous Sleep. We know today that hypnosis is neither nervous nor sleep, but be thankful though, because he almost called it Monoideaism... I'm glad he went with Hypnosis.

What is Hypnosis?

It is not what most people think it is. You won't turn into a zombie or be out of control. It is not mind control, rather, it is actually quite the opposite. Hypnosis is the ultimate display of self-control. It is exercise for your mind, and a way to reconnect to the subconscious mind. Many people have conscious desires for success, health, and great relationships, but sabotage them with subconscious programs! Hypnosis is an amazing tool to bridge that gap and re-establish rapport with the conscious and the subconscious mind.

Today, hypnotherapy has been used to help millions of people erase pain, lose weight, quit smoking, get motivated, recover health, and even as a complete anesthetic during medical procedures! It has been used by dentists, surgeons, and even in hypnobirthing for pain-free births.

Famous People Who Used Hypnosis:

  • Matt Damon, Drew Barrymore, Ashton Kutcher, and EllenDeGeneres all beat their smoking habit through hypnosis.
  • Tiger Woods’ mental coach hypnotizes him to block out distractions and focus on the golf course.
  • Kevin Costner flew his personal hypnotist to Hawaii to cure his sea sickness.
  • After learning hypnosis from IPCA founder Matt Brauning, John McAfee used hypnosis nearly everyday with his staff after selling his anti-virus company for $100 million.
  • Albert Einstein was known to have his hypnosis sessions every afternoon. His theory of relativity came to him while maintaining one of these sessions.
  • Sigmond Freud started out his therapy career after attending the Nancy School for Hypnosis in France. His talking therapy model originated out of his hypnosis sessions.
