Life Coaching

How does Life Coaching work?

When clients need an ongoing companion to their success in life, a Life Coach steps up to be there. A coach is meant to be a guide showing a pathway of success in any area in life, whether it is in Wealth, Career, relationships, or Health. If you are looking for someone to show you the achievable way to succeed, keep you responsible, be there consistently, then a certified Life Coach is what you are looking for. Many people go to a breakthrough seminar or course, or work with an NLP Practitioner or Hypnotherapist to produce a rapid change in their life. What's great about these modalities of change is that they work, the change stays permanent, and life improves every time. The downside is simple; Once you solve today's problems, and life steps up to the next level, then the next level of problem is sure to develop! That's a good thing because when you have no more problems, you have no more growth. So having a one-time experience like an NLP Breakthrough Session, or a breakthrough seminar is important to make the initial change. Life Coaching picks up the ball from that point for continued ongoing success.

Where did it come from?

There is actually very little documented on the history of life coaching, mainly because it is a very recent phenomenon during the last 20 or so years. However, there are many earlier experiences of coaching before it became more mainstream. In the 1880s American college sports teams started having coaches directly in addition to only team managers.

However, today's huge growth in coaching really stems from the 1980s when executive coaching began to be offered by large companies to help improve the performance of their top executives. Tony Robbins popularized business coaching with sales teams and top performance athletes. As the 80's went into the 90's coaching became more widely accepted and spread to smaller organisations and deeper into organisational hierarchy. Appreciation of the benefits of coaching was now widely accepted.

By the mid 1990's coaching began moving into the lives of individuals rather than only for businesses. People began seeing better results in their careers, health, and relationships. The medium of coaching also began to expand into phone coaching as well as in person sessions.

Since then there has been a rapid growth in personal life coaching. It is not psychiatry, psychology, therapy, or counseling, but a process on ongoing support and accountability.

Where do I start?

First you need to decide which category in life needs the most attention first.
